Any age -- any ability
We strongly encourage parents to
have dancers fitted with proper shoes
for dance. Leotards, tights, and other
clothing aren't nearly as important to
the dancer's success.

There are several good dance shops
in Columbia, and all are familiar with
the dress code at Columbia Ballet
School

Emerging Artists
This age -- 7 through 13 --
spans an enormous time of
change for our students. Some
have been with Columbia Ballet
School since they were three,
but others are coming for the
first time with a desire to dance.
We have classes for them all.

Columbia Ballet School believes
that the study of the arts should
be fun, while teachers provide
the finest  instruction available
in the Midlands. We believe
students in this age group are
discovering both their technical
and artistic sides. It is each and
every teacher's responsibility to
instruct with both precision and
kindness, as these students
develop their independence
and artistic freedom.

This is a time when students
recognize that instruction and
performance go hand in hand.
Our classes are the most
important part of our program,
but we also provide
performance opportunities at
the end of the year through our
annual recital. Each class
participates in a themed
concert, such as Alice in
Wonderland.

Students also may choose to
participate in our company,
Visions Dance Company, which
requires a high level of
commitment to rehearsal and
performance preparation. While
we believe performance is
important in self-development
and self-confidence,  we focus
on classroom instruction as the
most important aspect of the
CBS experience.

Our beautiful new studios are
conveniently located near the
intersection of Garners Ferry
Road and Rosewood Drive.
This is a safe environment
where the teachers nurture
each child’s love of the arts and
of performance. All studios are
glassed so that parents can
observe instruction.

Students in this age group
can participate in classes in
ballet, tap, jazz, acting,
voice, and musical theatre.
Frequency and level will be
determined by the studio
and based upon  the
student's experience and
aptitude.
